This week World Vibes has a special guest in studio ! The entire show features our talk to Hong Kong based Swiss photographer, writer, adventurer, athlete, mind traveller, in his 70s with no plans to stop any time soon, Marc Progin ! We also hear his choice of music inspired by his travels through the Gobi Desert in Mongolia amongst others, and the many seminars he’s given through the years ! Click on ‘World Vibes’ above for more details.

Our first hour starts with introducing Marc Progin and his yearly expeditions to Mongolia since 1999. First on solo bicycle expeditions of up to 17,000 kms and three weeks in and around the Gobi desert and other far-flung parts of Mongolia. We get to his beginnings as an Award Winning Marathon runner decades ago, he’s now 72 years old, to his first run in Mongolia which gave him the idea to bicycle solo there, to his amazing photography, to last year’s expedition on Camels to the far Western reaches of Mongolia in minus forty degree Winter conditions to take his stunning photos of Paleolithic carvings strewn across the desolate 4,000 ms high mountain ranges. He even gets to explain his experience of ‘mind travelling’ when bicycling in the Mongolian steppes. And in between we hear his choice of music, from traditional Mongolian songs from the Morin Khuur Orchestra to more contemporary fare, some from movie soundtracks he uses in his seminars, as he recently gave to the Royal Geographical Society in Hong Kong ! Stunning tales of inspiration and discovery, enjoy !

Then he regales us with some of his travel stories, including photographing wolves feeding on a wild horse carcass at midnight in the middle of nowhere, he says every one of his photos has a story ! He divulges some of the details in the logistics of preparing his excursions, to the particular problems photography poses in minus zero degree conditions, to his plans for next year regarding exhibitions, new excursions on Camel Caravans in winter, to his writing articles, and maybe soon a book ! In between we hear Marc’s choice of music, from Mongolian traditional songs to more movie soundtracks he uses for his many seminars, such as Steve Jablonski in the movie ‘The transformers’, ending the show with a last traditional from the Morin Khuur Orchestra ! Fascinating stories and sounds for all, enjoy !
